Beginning in November 2017, we will start seeing patients by appointment to decrease wait times and better serve our customers.  Please be respectful and show up for an appointment you book so that we don't turn others away.  If you need to cancel and appointment, call us as soon as possible.  Surgeries will still be scheduled by reservation and deposits are strongly recommended.  If we find that people are abusing the appointment system, we will start requiring deposits for those services as well .  Please call 770-679-1730 to schedule and appointment or email us at info@mybudgetvet.com.  Please do not email after 3pm the day before you want an appointment.  You cannot schedule by leaving voice mails, messages on FaceBook or text.

manner that maximizes detection of parasitic infections.

Deworming(oral)......................................................$10-25
We offer deworming with PPO.   This product is a one dose treatment for
hookworms, roundworms, whipworms and tapeworms.  We recommend a follow up dose in 3 weeks for maximum efficacy.
Tapeworm injection.................................................$10-15
Tapeworms are contracted from fleas.  If your dog has had a flea
problem, it is likely that they also will have a tapeworm problem.
If adequate flea control is achieved, then only one injection should
clear up the problem.  If fleas remain a problem, it is likely that tapeworms will return.
Ear Mite treatment/diagnosis..................................$10
Ear mites live on blood.  We give an injection of ivermectin to kill all
mites on the body.  Topicals often only kill the mites in the ears.
Mange diagnosis/treatment...................................$10-150
We can diagnose and treat sarcoptic and demodectic mange.  The
treatment varies widely with severity and type.  We must see your
dog to give an accurate estimate.

Canines can contract parasites from eating directly off the ground,
drinking out of puddles, grooming, and from other things.

Heartworm Screening & Prevention
Canine heartworm test.................................$25

The best deal we have for heartworm prevention is our Complete ParasiteProtection.  Custom ordered for your dog, it costs only $105/yr no matter the size of the dog up to 225lbs.  It prevents heartworms, helps control fleas, hookworms, roundworms, whipworms, and tapeworms.  It is most comparable to brand name Sentinel.  It is not exactly the same as Sentinel, but accomplishes the same coverage at a fraction of the cost.  We must see your dog and have a negative heartworm test.  The medication is ordered by us and shipped to your door.

Ivermectin based  ................6months of 0-25lb.........$30
heartworm pills 6months 26-50lb............$45
                6months 51-100lb..........$55
  • We carry either Iverheart, Triheart or Heartgard on the truck. They are the only oral products offered on the mobile unit that can be taken home that day.
  • All other heartworm preventatives may be purchased using our online pharmacy

Heartworms are transmitted to canines by the bite of mosquitoes
that carry infectious immature worms These worms live in the
large blood vessels of the lungs as well as within the right side
of the heart.

Flea & Tick Prevention
We offer Vectra topical for monthly flea control, plus Capstar treatment to knock back the population(it only lasts for 24 hours).

We now also offer Simparica monthly flea and tick prevention for dogs. It is not labelled for cats.  We are also using this to treat Demodex Mange.  Simparica is the only medication in it's class to have published data for the treatment of Demodex and Sarcoptes.

We are excited to offer Seresto collars for fleas.  These offer 8 months of both flea and tcik protection.  Normally, we do not recommend flea and tick collars because they are usually not effective.  The Seresto collar is made by Bayer, a leader in flea and tick control.  We highly recommend this collar.  At the prices we offer them at, $50 and $55, they are the most cost effective flea control available., costing you around $7/month.  This is not good if your dogs chew on each other's collars.

Vectra 3D ......................5-10#...........$10
11-20#..........$11 /1month
21-55#.........$12 /1month

Capstar 24hr flea treatment           $10 per dose
Seresto Dog and cat collars...........$55 each
Simparica(dogs only)......................$20/dose, $50/3 doses

Adult fleas live on your canine and contaminate the animal's
environment with immature flea stages. Look for black specks
on your pet to determine if your pet has fleas.   If you are still seeing fleas after treatment, you will need to treat your house as well.  You need to treat all pets in the house at one time for it to be effective.

Q.  What are the prices for orthopedic procedures?
Prices vary and a complete evaluation of the animal and any x-rays and history
must be completed prior to any estimate.  Estimates range from $600-$1,200.
This is 1/3 to 1/2 of prices for comparable procedures at traditional clinics.
As with any estimate, it is ONLY an estimate.  There are often unforseen complications that arise during surgery that will add to the cost.  We do everything
in our power to inform you of any additional costs that may arise.  In general,
we suggest you plan for an additional $100 over the quoted price of any orthopedic  procedure.  This does not mean that it will automatically cost that much more, but it i better to prepare for that possibility.

Q.  What does the price include?
The price includes all anesthesia, pain medication appropriate to the procedure,
required rechecks(including recheck sedation), bandaging, antibiotics, capstar
flea treatment, nail trim.  ****It does not include any vaccinations, testing, routine

Q.  Does Budget Vet do a lot of orthopedics?
Although we do not do orthopedics every day, Dr Lassiter is very skilled and has
almost 20 years of experience in orthopedic evaluation and surgery.  She is not
a specialist, however, and there are many procedures for which you will require
a surgical specialist.

Ear Cropping
Budget Vet offers ear cropping for dogs.  This is a controversial procedure.  Budget Vet's stance is this-as long as this procedure is legal, we offer it to try to prevent 'backyard' ear croppings that are unsanitary and often done without any anesthesia or pain medication.  The procedure is painful.  We provide pain medication and a sterile environment in which to do the procedure.  The owner of the dog must understand that their dog will experience discomfort following the procedure for 1-2 weeks.
The price range varies depending on the breed and size of the dog.
Pitbull crop less than 25lbs..........................................................$200
Pitbull crop over 25lbs...................................................................$300-350
******The procedure produces the best results when done between the ages of
9wks to 4 months.  Dogs over 4 months will experience excessive hemorrhage and
greater chance of infection*******
Schnauzer/Min Pin crop..................................................................$200
Doberman/Boxer/Great Dane........................................................$350
Dobermans/Boxers and Great Danes may require repeated bandaging because the cuts are longer and may not stand right away.
Ear crop price includes e-collar, pain medication, surgery, anesthesia, capstar flea
treatment, nail trim, bandaging as needed and rechecks.  Not all crops require bandaging or rechecks.
This is a cosmetic procedure and there is no guarantee that the outcome will be as planned.  All dogs have unique ears.  No refunds will be issued for cosmetic reasons.

Other surgeries not listed

Budget Vet also offers many other surgeries, including: mass removal, laceration repair, cystotomy, foreign body removal, exploratory, perineal urethrostomy, splenectomy, aural hematoma repair, amputations, tail docks, etc.  We must evaluate your pet prior to providing an estimate for any of these.
